Company History
I have owned and operated Terry Matlock School of Performing Arts, Dance School since 1973. Since that time I have been a leader in Fine Arts Programs in this community, especially the Christmas at Whiting series. I studied extensively with the Gus Gioridano Jazz School in Evanston, IL, and also the Joe Tremaine School in Los Angeles. I performed with the Wilmington, Delaware City Ballet Company and the Phoeniz Arizona Performing Arts Group. I am certified thru the Cecchetti Council of America to teach advanced ballet levels. I am also a member of the National Board of Dance Masters of America. Over the years, I have spent time traveling and judging dance competitions. Currently I have three dance studios and a staff of seven full-time teachers.
In 1982, I opened the childcare/preschool division of my company. I offer Fine Arts in an academic setting. Children in my care receive daily classes in art, music, dance and gymnastics, as well as their academic programs. They also have performance opportunities which build self-esteem and confidence. This is one of the many elements that set my schools apart from others. I currently have three locations and four buildings. I am licensed to care for 350 students. This is a family run business with an on-site owner. The family consists of Terry Matlock, owner and Artistic Director; Lindsay Matlock Clark - Operational Manager; Natalie Matlock - Grand Pointe Preschool Lead Teacher and Office Manager; Taylor Matlock - Lead Toddler Teacher and Building Manager at Holly Road Infant/Toddler Center; and our Academic Director, Michele Hammond, who has provided curriculum and leadership in our centers for over 20 years and who we consider family.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our program. My staff and I are so excited to have the opportunity to work with your children and make a difference in their lives. We are prepared to implement a strong academic curriculum that has proven to be successful in our preschools for many years. Our program also consists of Fine Arts Classes of dance (tap and ballet), gymnastics (mat work and balance beam), art and music. These classes are included in the student's daily schedule. I would be happy to meet with you personally to plan an educational path for your young student.
Sincerely,
Terry Matlock
